A tooth may need to be removed from the mouth if it cannot be saved through any other treatment. Most commonly teeth are extracted when a tooth is broken through trauma/accident, decay or if it is loose. There are many reasons an extraction may be necessary so it is important to consult with your dentist to make an effect plan you both agree on.
There are two types of tooth extraction;
Simple extraction: This is the most common type of extraction and is straight forward. Used when the tooth is visible or loose in the mouth.
Surgical extraction: This is a more complicated procedure and is necessary if a tooth is broken at the gum line or is below the gum line. This type of extraction takes more time and in some instances can only be carried out by an oral surgeon. In this case the dentist will refer you.

Due to tooth whitenings incredible popularity there is a plethora of whitening products on the market. However, many products are inferior, performed by unqualified personnel or simply do not work.

Here’s are the top three things you need to know about teeth whitening;
- Laser teeth whitening is the most effective way to whiten teeth quickly.
- Take home kits (trays) are excellent for maintaining your new shade after laser teeth whitening but can also be used as a standalone product to whiten teeth.
- Laser teeth whitening is usually completely pain free. It is safe, easy, and does not damage the enamel.
How Does Teeth whitening Work?
Teeth whitening generally occurs when Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) is exposed to the enamel and dentine of a tooth (the layer directly under the enamel). When Hydrogen Peroxide penetrates through the enamel, pigmentation found in the dentine tube oxidizes rendering a white finish which is reflected through the translucent enamel.
